September is Library Card Sign-up Month: Anyone who gets a library card will be entered into a drawing for door prizes at the end of the month. Getting a library card helps students get a good start on the new school year. A library card also give access to e-books, online databases, bestsellers, movies, and much more. The library is open Monday through Friday, 10 AM-8 PM and Saturday 10 AM-5 PM. Anyone who lives within the Franklin Area School District or Sugarcreek Borough can get a free library card at the Franklin Public Library.

Each of the nominees is the creme de la creme of "whodunit" writers and are, without a doubt, the craftiest minds in the business. Someone, however, seems to think otherwise, and the plot thickens as they have a novel idea -- try to commit the perfect crime. Oil Region Ballet will host their 1st Annual  TUTU TROT 5K Run/Walk @ 8 AM in Franklin at the Allegheny River Trail off Route 322.  This event is open to runners and walkers of all ages.  Discounted pre-registration is offered and forms are available at www.oilregionballet.org  or www.runhigh.com.  Race day registration is offered at 7 AM the morning of the race.  Pre-registered participants will receive a water bottle and awards will be given for overall winners and in each age division after the race.  Ladies wear your tutu and guys wear your ties!!!

DukeFest 2014 presents the 3rd Annual Dog Walk to benefit local animal rescue and response groups. 10 AM-4:30 PM will be packed with music, great food, over 40 raffle baskets, craft vendors, a Woof Walk, kissing booth, luminaria ceremony, Blessing of the Animals & numerous other fun activities for dogs, kids and adults.
